"Snowquestration" 2013

A few days ago, Chad, L'ie Bear and I prepared for a major snow storm to hit the Fairfax area.  It was supposed to be a major doozy, and the locals dubbed the storm "Snowquestration" in honor of the nation's latest budget crisis, which also has the potential to be a doozy.

Prior to the 8 - 10 inches of expected snow, we braved the grocery store, filled up the gas tanks in our cars, and prepared to settle in for a day or two.  I also made a quick stop at the mall in search of snow gear for the Bear, and since it was March, a lot of the items were already on sale.  So we snagged some new boots and new snow pants.  YEAH for late season snow storms!!!

The snow was supposed to start overnight.  We all went to bed and awoke to find a few inches on the ground.  Unfortunately, the temperature did not drop as low as they thought it would and the ground was still warm from the 56 degree day we experienced the day before, so none of the snow really stuck to the roads.  It did snow most of the morning, but changed to rain during the afternoon...resulting in a slushy mess and a noticeable lack of snow accumulation.

But don't worry, Chad and I were still able to get L'ie out for some fun in the little amount of snow we received, and we all had a great time.  It took a little bit of time to get the Bear decked out in her long underwear, multiple long-sleeved shirts, a sweatshirt, two pairs of socks, her snow pants, her boots, a coat, her hat, and mittens.  I am actually surprised she could move as well as she did with all of those clothes on, but she didn't seem to mind.

And out, into the snow, we went...

these on the Bear properly...silly thumbs

Trying her first taste of snow.  She LOVED it!

"More playing, less picture taking daddy!"

MAD Bear!!!  She was not happy
when we brought her back inside.

Well, maybe it is not so bad.

We finished the day by watching "Beauty & The Beast"

It might not have been the major storm we were expecting, but we were still able to enjoy one last afternoon playing in the snow.  Then we came back inside, dried off, warmed up, enjoyed some hot chocolate (warm chocolate for the Bear), and all three of us were extremely worn out by the end of the day!! So I guess it was a successful snow storm after all!!
