I was a little bummed that I did not think to grab L'ie Bear and carry her across the finish line. But, I got over it pretty quickly because we are planning on running a relay race with Mee-maw and Aunt Sarah later in the year. We will definitely make sure that whoever crosses that final finish line carries her with them.
It took us exactly 3 hours to finish, and once it was over, we all had a great time celebrating at the post-race wine festival. There is nothing like live music, beautiful weather, and wine to start the recovery process.
It has been two days, and I am still SORE and tired...so I will just complete this blog post with photos. I hope you enjoy!
Getting ready to cross the finish line!
We did it...we really did it! And we were really happy to have L'ie Bear's all-terrain stroller in those fields.
Sitting down for the first time by the music pavilion
Celebratory bottle of white wine (Side note: Our medals have a working cork-screw...how cool is that?)
Post race group photo!
L'ie Bear couldn't have any wine, but she loved chewing on the cork.
It was a great day, and SHOCKINGLY I am already planning our next half marathon. Hopefully L'ie Bear will be cheering us on as we run through the rolling hills of Napa/Sonoma, CA next summer!!
Congrats!
